    Mediterranean Diet

Mediterranean Diet Write For Us: The Mediterranean diet is built on the diet of the inhabitants of Crete, Greece, and southern Italy. It has also gained popularity due to its low incidence of cardiovascular disease, chronic illnesses, and obesity. It also includes whole grains, healthy fats (fish, olive oil, nuts, etc.), vegetables, fruits, fish, and a very low consumption of meats other than fish. In addition to proper nutrition, the Mediterranean diet prioritizes spending time with family during meals and physical activity.

    The New Mediterranean Diet

The New Mediterranean Diet Pyramid includes the same food categories but suggests reducing carbohydrate intake due to today’s more sedentary lifestyle. According to the New Mediterranean Diet Pyramid, a Mediterranean diet meal plan would be as follows:

    • Breakfast: Oatmeal with nuts
    • Snack: Fruit
    • Lunch: Green salad with olives, chickpeas, and cucumbers
    • Snack: Nuts
    • Dinner: Cod with vegetables and couscous

On the other hand, the macrobiotic diet is moved by the eating habits and lifestyles of the world’s most ancient civilizations. Like the Mediterranean diet, macrobiotics has been successful in helping people with chronic diseases, obesity, and cardiovascular health. Macrobiotics includes equal proportions of grains, legumes, vegetables and fruits, nuts, and seeds. Additionally, seasonal produce, local foods, soups, pickles, fermented foods, condiments, natural sweeteners, and soft drinks with little or no animal products are recommended.

Unlike the Mediterranean diet, macrobiotics, which means “healthy living,” is considered a lifestyle rather than a diet. It is a lifestyle since it uses healthy food choices to help people find balance and harmony in their lives. Macrobiotics focuses on mindfulness, intimacy, and the pursuit of healthy behavior patterns through food. A healthy person will inspire strong, conscious, and resilient families, communities, and environments.

The Best Diet for Maintaining Health

Both the Mediterranean and macrobiotic diets are excellent for cardiovascular health, obesity, and chronic disease management, as they include plenty of healthy vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and grains. However, the Mediterranean diet is not a quantity diet. It doesn’t offer clear guidelines on how much of each food category to consume, which can be a contest for those trying to lose weight.

The Health Booster version of the macrobiotic diet specifies the amounts: 25% grains, 25% legumes, 25% vegetables, and 25% fruits, nuts, and seeds. With these basic guidelines, people can more easily determine how much they should eat and what meals to prepare.

Another problem with diets is not just losing weight, but also maintaining it. We can become emotional eaters, suffer from food addiction, and crave processed foods. Giving to the American Psychological Association, 38% of adults report overdoing or eating unhealthy foods in the past month due to stress. After overeating, half (49%) feel disappointed in themselves, 46% feel dissatisfied with their figure, and more than a third (36%) feel sluggish or lethargic. While the Mediterranean diet encourages people to spend time with family and exercise, it doesn’t delve into the intricacies of diet. The macrobiotic diet was created from the experience of ancient civilizations to find foods that help people feel good.
