What I Love About Talkspace
Talkspace offers two apps: the main app, Talkspace Therapy & Counseling (available on Google Play) and Talkspace Therapy & Support (available on the App Store), which is designed specifically for members and serves as a way to connect with your therapist. The second, Talkspace Go, offers various helpful educational resources, such as mindfulness exercises, classes, live workshops with a therapist, and reading materials.
The former is exclusive to Talkspace customers, but anyone can download and subscribe to Talkspace Go. Since Talkspace Go is a self-guided therapy app that allows you to identify what you want to work on more, Talkspace recommends using it alongside therapy sessions, regardless of whether you work with a Talkspace therapist.
Talkspace, as an online therapy provider, stands out because you can access a variety of therapies through its main app, including individual therapy for adults, couples therapy, therapy for teens, and mental health therapy and medication management. The app’s main function is to message your therapist for everything from scheduling appointments to checking on your assignments and getting additional support between sessions. Additionally, all the features of the Talkspace website are available on the app: signing up for services, finding a therapist, booking an appointment, and attending sessions. You can even check your insurance coverage directly from the app.
What I Love About Calm
Calm is designed to help you fall asleep. It offers soundscapes (like a rainforest or a thunderstorm) that play as white noise while you’re in bed, guided meditations to help you unwind and prepare for sleep, relaxing music playlists, and bedtime sections designed to help you fall asleep quickly.
With hundreds of exercises and resources, you’re sure to find something that calms you and your overactive nervous system so you can get a good night’s sleep.
Two of my users who tried Calm were thrilled with its sleep content. They both started the trial with pretty severe sleep issues but slept much better afterward, all in less than a month.
